Calgary 3D printing service

3D Printing

Practical 3D printing for prototypes, replacement parts, fixtures, custom brackets and small production batches. Send a file or project idea, then MMD Studio checks printability, material, strength and final cost before production starts.

Simple process

How the printing service works

Send your STL, STEP, Fusion 360 file, photos, or dimensions. We review the part, confirm whether it is ready to print, recommend the right plastic for the job, estimate machine time and material, then begin after the minimum order is paid.

01

Send file or idea

Share the model file, dimensions, target use, quantity, strength needs, color and material preference.

02

Printability review

We check orientation, supports, wall thickness, tolerances and whether the part needs CAD cleanup before printing.

03

Estimate and minimum order

The 30 CAD minimum order starts review, slicing, setup and small print preparation. Larger jobs are quoted before production.

04

Print and handoff

Finished parts can be picked up locally in Calgary, delivered by arrangement, or shipped when needed.

Rates and material

Machine time plus the right plastic for the job

3D printing cost depends on print time, material, part size, quantity, support material, and whether CAD preparation is required. The minimum order is applied toward the project and is not a fixed total price.

Material cost depends on the plastic selected by the customer. Usually material is priced from a 1 kg spool, but if the requested plastic and color are already in stock, there may be no minimum material weight charge.

3D printing time2.5 CAD / hour

Machine time for the actual print job, based on slicer estimate and confirmed before production.

MaterialBy selected plastic

Price depends on filament type, color and availability. If the material is not in stock, the quote may include a full spool purchase.

Minimum order30 CAD

Minimum order to start review, slicing, setup, scheduling and small print preparation.

Material guide

Choose plastic by how the part will be used

MMD Studio prints on Bambu Lab H2D/H2S machines and selects material based on strength, flexibility, heat, outdoor use, appearance and budget. Final material availability is confirmed before printing.

Visual prototypes and simple parts

PLA / PLA Matte / PLA Silk / PLA-CF

Best for display models, fit checks, concept parts and clean-looking prints. Easy to print and cost-effective, but not ideal for heat, sun or heavy mechanical load.

Everyday functional parts

PETG / PETG-HF / PETG-CF

Good balance of strength, durability and temperature resistance. A practical choice for brackets, holders, fixtures and parts that need more toughness than PLA.

Flexible parts

TPU

Used for soft pads, flexible covers, grips, dampers, protective pieces and parts that need elasticity or impact absorption.

Heat and outdoor use

ABS / ASA

Better for warmer environments and outdoor use. ASA is preferred when UV and weather resistance matter, such as exterior clips, covers and automotive-style parts.

Engineering plastics

PC / PA Nylon

For stronger functional parts where heat resistance, toughness or durability are more important. Good for demanding brackets, fixtures and mechanical parts.

High stiffness composites

PA-CF / PA-GF / PAHT-CF / PET-CF / PC-CF

Carbon or glass fiber reinforced materials for rigid, strong, professional parts with improved stiffness and dimensional stability. Recommended when performance matters more than lowest cost.

Support materials

Support for PLA / PETG / PA and soluble support when suitable

Used when geometry requires cleaner overhangs, internal channels or complex surfaces. Support material is quoted only when the model actually needs it.

Good fit for 3D printing

  • Functional prototypes and test-fit parts
  • Tool holders, brackets, adapters and fixtures
  • Replacement plastic components
  • Small batches of custom parts
  • Parts designed by MMD Studio or supplied by the customer

Before we print

  • We confirm model readiness and print orientation
  • We recommend material based on use, strength and budget
  • CAD repair or redesign can be quoted separately
  • Material, color and timeline are confirmed before final production
